Summer 2025 will see the UK will host the Women’s International Defence Rugby Competition (IDRC), hosted in parallel to the Women’s Rugby World Cup (RWC). Eight teams from nations within the Defence Rugby Community have be invited to take part in the competition, with an expected footprint for the event totalling around 300 participants.
The 8 teams will be divided into 2 pools of 4 teams. This group phase will consist of pools matches in which all the teams in a pool will play a match against each other for a total of 6 matches per pool, 12 matches in total. At the end of the pool stage, the teams in a group will be ranked from 1 to 4 and declared Winner, Second, Third and Fourth of the group. Teams ranked first and second in their pool will enter a knockout tournament for the title of IDRC World Champion, and teams ranked third and fourth in their pool will enter a knockout tournament for the Challenge Cup.
