The UKAF RFC are looking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced individual who will bring passion and commitment, as well as management and leadership skills to the role of Secretary.
The UKAF RFC combines the talent of the 3 single Service rugby unions into a single body to represent the UK Armed Forces at international competitions and for exhibition rugby matches. Our aim is to provide opportunities to generate sporting events that are considered the pinnacle of our members, players, coaches in equal measure.
UKAF RFC Secretary
The role:
- A voting member of the UKAF RFC Executive Committee.
- Provide leadership of the Executive Committee to ensure it functions effectively.
- Deliver the goals and the club’s strategic priorities as set by the Chair.
- To be the single point of contact for UKAF RFC related business working directly for the Chair of UKAF RFC.
- Ensure the charity and organisation is run in accordance with the Constitution and relevant Defence and NGB policy.
- To administer all correspondence and records relating to business of the UKAFRFC.
- Co-ordinate all fixture details and disseminate. Provide a seasonal return to UKAFSB Secretary for authorisation of all UKAF RFC Fixtures. Maintain the structured season document and co-ordinate and de-conflict with the single service Secretaries.
- Co-ordinate with and provide returns as required to the UKAF Sports Board.
- Maintain the UKAF Rugby Constitution.
- Arrange the AGM
- Act as Secretary for the Board of Trustees.
- Co-ordinate annual returns to the Charity Commission.
- Maintain the accuracy of the Charity’s details with the Charity Commission.
The person:
- Committed to Service Rugby, and capable of supporting UKAF RFC through fulfilment and successful performance of the role of Secretary.
- Ideally, but not exclusively, a serving or reserve member of the Armed Forces.
- The ability to make strategic decisions within a complex and shifting landscape.
- Proven skills to provide leadership, management and strategic guidance of a high profile charitable and/or sports organisation.
- Personal integrity and resilience, demonstrable independence and other attitudes consistent with the expectations of a high profile role.
- Able to lead the delivery of a co-ordinated programme of elite sporting events in the UK and at international competitions.
- Willing and able to liaise widely across all Services (in person as well as by other means) in pursuit of the UKAF RFC agenda.

- Written applications will be considered by a panel from the UKAF Rugby Executive Committee; candidates may be invited to interview to constitute a second round of the selection process if deemed appropriate by the panel.
