Treasurer Vacancy

The United Kingdom Armed Forces Rugby Football Club is looking for a new Treasurer.

The UKAF RFC acts as the pinnacle of Armed Forces Rugby, based on a modus operandi not dissimilar to the British and Irish Lions, whereby the best of the players from all three services, backed by committed and expert support staff and officials, come together over the course of a 4-year cycle in order to achieve the guiding intent of winning both the women’s and men’s International Defence Rugby Competition (IDRC). The club is a registered charity and an association of the UK Armed Forces Sports Board.

Roles and responsibilities:

  1. Maintain accurate accounts that conform to recognised Service practice.
  2. To oversee the budgeting process and manage the cash flow of the UKAF RFC, ensuring that all expenditure is delivered to the agreed budget plan.
  3. Prepare annual statements of account for audit and presentation the GM.
  4. Prepare and submit accounts to the Charity Commission.
  5. Facilitate the raising and payment of invoices.

This role would suit an individual with:

The Person:
A background and passion for rugby is preferable.
Able to commit to UKAF Rugby, and capable of supporting the UKAF Rugby Committee through successful performance of the role of Treasurer.
Excellent communications skills, both written and oral.
Ideally, but not exclusively, a serving member of the Armed Forces (including reserves).
Personable and able to represent UKAF Rugby in engagement with stakeholders.
It is a volunteer role and the successful candidate will be expected to commit to a 4 year tenure.

The Selection Process
Closing date for applications is Monday 25 Mar 2024.

Applications should be made in writing, via email, to The UKAF Rugby Secretary. Email address to be used is secretary@ukafrfc.co.uk. Applications should include sufficient detail to explain an individual’s suitability for the role (personal statements and covering letters are encouraged). Written applications will be considered by a panel formed from members of the Executive Committee of UKAF RFC; candidates may be invited to interview to constitute a second round of the selection process if deemed appropriate by the panel. If required, virtual interviews will be conducted week commencing Monday 25 Mar 24.
