Michael “Mikey” McDonald is a scrum-half and fly-half for the British Army, the UK Armed Forces Men’s XV and Germany. A Royal Engineers soldier, he has represented Germany in the Rugby Europe Championship, and in March 2023 he and his brother Cameron became the first pair of Army brothers in the modern era to play for an international side in the same match.
McDonald has eight UKAF caps, including all five matches at the 2023 International Defence Rugby Competition in France. At Military vs Cancer 2026 he came off the bench at fly-half, stepped and accelerated through to score, converted his own try and landed the final kick of the 42-26 win over a North of England Select XV at Castle Park, Doncaster.
