UKAF - 26 Germany - 43
The 6th November saw our senior men’s XV play Germany on home turf at Kingsholm Stadium.
After an early lead from the Germans, Ben Mallett put UKAF’s first 5 points on the scoreboard in the 38th minute to go into half time UKAF 5 – Germany 17 .
UKAF were straight into the points on return onto the pitch thanks to a Will Rigelsford special, this time converted by Owain Davies who we are extremely grateful to see back in a UKAF jersey! UKAF 12 – Germany 17
Post more German points finding their way onto the board, our next UKAF try came in the form of a fantastic run from Ryan Crowley in the 49th minute. Another conversion by Owain Davies: UKAF 19 – Germany 22 .
Another German try in the 51st minute took the score to 19-29.
The 68th minute saw Ryan Crowley and Owain Davies put more points on the board to take UKAF within 3 points of the Germans yet again: UKAF 26 – Germany 29.
The last 10 minutes of play saw a very determined German side to widen the lead over our side at the final whistle.
Final score: UKAF 26 – Germany 43.
This fixture saw the inaugural recipient of the Steffan Rees Memorial Trophy, sponsored by the Royal Naval Association in memory of Steff who we tragically lost in France in 2023. The first recipient of this award as UKAF Player of the Match was our No.13, Cpl Ryan Crowley of the Royal Air Force who played alongside Steff during the IDRCS in 2023.
