UKAF 10 Republic of Fiji Military Forces 17
UK Armed Forces Women vs Republic of Fiji Military Forces in the Pool Games of the Women’s International Defence Rugby Competition 2022.
Fiji’s win over the ADF combined with UKAF’s loss to the same opponents in the opening round, meant that UKAF needed a bonus point win to progress into the Cup competition. The opening 20 mins were scoreless. UKAF had the better territory and possession, but missed kicks and crucial errors allowed Fiji to relive pressure at key points in the game. A quick tap penalty resulted in a score for Charlie Morgan which was followed up by the Fijians putting together the phases for a try of their own. In the second half, Beth Dainton knabbed a interception to bring the score 10-5. The Fijians responded with some strong carries resulting in a try in the corner to take the score to 10-10. The score line remained even with 80 seconds left to play, when the RFMF flaker crashed over under the sticks leaving the final score RFMF 17 – 10 UKAF
